Swar

Swara or Swar is defined as the seven notes that are the foundation of Indian music. Arrangement of swaras in various patterns creates Ragas. Time measure to Indian music is controlled by Tala.

The seven swaras in Indian music are:

     Shadjamam (Sa)

     Rishabham (Ri)

     Gandharam (Ga)

     Madhyamam (Ma)

     Panchamam (Pa)

     Dhivatham (Dh)

     Nishadham (Ni)

Webster defines Jammers as 'to take part in a jam session'. A ‘jam session' is often between musicians who do not usually play together and just play one-off for the fun of it.
